What do you do at Level Level?
I work as a developer and want to further specialize in back-end development. After working as a Chemical Engineer for 5 years, I joined Level Level as an intern. A tough career change, but it was definitely worth it!
What did you do before this?
As mentioned earlier, I was a Chemical Engineer. Got my bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering at the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences and then started tinkering in factories in the Botlek/Europoort area and sometimes also internationally. However, I was not satisfied in this field and decided to throw myself into the deep end and start as a developer at Level Level. Nothing ventured, nothing gained and stuff!
What do you do in your spare time?
I am generally a jack of all trades when it comes to hobbies, but there are a few that I consider essential. Throwing weights around in my home gym and practicing martial arts (mainly boxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) are really my thing. To recover from all those intense sports I like to go into nature, hang out with my friends or cuddle with my cat Azula.
What makes you happy?
Music, friends and bad B-Movies. I listen to absolutely everything in terms of music. Metal, bluegrass, bebop, city pop, funk, just to name a few. I still play my old guitar now and then and I used to play bass in bands. I’m also a big fan of watching bad B-Movies with a group of friends (the worse the better)! Personal favorites include the cult classics Samurai Cop and Suburban Sasquatch.
What do you want to achieve at Level Level? (for Level Level or for yourself)
Would like to further develop myself as a back-end developer. Because I came in from a career switch, I learn something new every day. As far as I’m concerned, it can stay that way! Keep learning and keep getting better at what I do. Awesome!
